Step Ahead
I'm currently producing a workshop of a new musical called Step Ahead, written by a frighteningly talented 13-year-old student from China. We're seeking a tenor with a playing age of 40-50, to play the main character's father, for the performance next week.
Step Ahead tells the story of twin sisters forced to put aside their own conflicts when their mother becomes gravely ill. Its poignant melodies and tender lyrics tell a story of hardship, hope, and self-discovery in the most difficult circumstances.
You’d be required for three days - July 25th, 27th and 28th, in central London, with the show on July 28th at Waterloo East Theatre. The fee is £275, plus up to £25 in travel expenses.
The show is around 50 minutes long, and will be a workshop for family and friends. We hope to do as much staging as possible, but with a short rehearsal period this will be fairly minimal.
The Father character is an unsuccessful businessman, neglectful of his wife and children and overly convinced of his own importance. He sings one number, a duet with the Mother character, and also sings in the finale.
We strive to be an inclusive and diverse production, and we're particularly interested in hearing from performers from global majority backgrounds, along with other groups who tend to be less represented in musical theatre. If there’s any adjustment we can make to the audition or rehearsal process to accommodate you, please let us know in your email.
To apply, please send a CV, and a video of yourself performing a musical theatre song, to joe@chordstruck.co.uk. Spotlight pages, Drive links etc are fine - anything that points us to an easily viewable video.
We're aiming to fill this role as swiftly as possible, so we encourage applications at the earliest possible time, though the formal deadline is Saturday July 20th.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions!
